Academy and Alternative Program Information and Applications
We are now opening applications to our W.H. Croxford Academies for the 2025-26 school year.
At Croxford we have five grade ten academies that students can attend:
- Croxford Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA)
- Croxford Music Academy (CMA)
- Visual Arts & Media Academy (VAM)
- WHC Mechatronics Academy
- Construction Academy of Business & Manufacturing (CABAM)
We also have one grade eleven academy that students can attend:
- Croxford Academy of Biology and Interactions in Nature (CABIN)
The academies are an all-year immersive learning experience, where students engage in an area that they are passionate about. Once students are accepted into an academy, they will spend one period all year of grade ten earning credits in their passion area. Due to flexible programming and the nature of our integrated projects and learning, most students are eligible to earn 10 to 13 credits in the scheduled time. The remainder of the grade ten day is spent in their core courses (English 10, Social Studies 10, Phys Ed. 10, Math 10, and Science 10) as well as other options. Any student who does not choose to be in an academy will be placed in regular grade ten courses.
We realize that this is an important decision for your son or daughter, so we have included brochures and links to the applications for you to look at in more detail. There is also a link to the video that was presented to all grade nine students in home room:

The deadline for academy applications to be submitted is the end of the school day on Friday, April 4th. Interested students must submit the completed application through the corresponding academy Google Form (linked below). Students can also scan the QR codes on the posters around the school to access the application as well. They will need to be logged into their RVS Google account to access this online application. We are anticipating limited space in the academies, so students must be thorough with their application and ensure that they meet this deadline.

EmpowerHER PE 10:
Grade 9 ladies! Do you want to be part of an exciting new course that gives you a chance to be in a PE 10 class that removes barriers, focuses on female camaraderie, AND lets you help shape your physical education experience? Well, you want to sign up for EmpowerHER!
EmpowerHER is a new full semester (5 credits with potential for 6) PE course for our grade 10 girls! We will be in the gym every other week taking part in our typical sports and activities but, for the other half of the course, we’ll be in the classroom and in the community building relationships, learning new skills and exploring topics that matter to young women - you! We want you to help shape the activities and topics we cover. Do we want to visit gyms/classes around Airdrie and find out what you love? Or, do we want to get outside and go golfing, canoeing, or go for some hikes?
What discussions really matter to you? We’ll invite speakers in, create a safe space and explore female nutrition, female health and wellness, body positivity, female athletes in the media, female leadership, healthy relationships, and more! We’ll set goals that matter and take part in a personal project to inspire change.
If you are at all interested, please fill out the following Google Form so that you can help shape the program!
